Aware of the dominance of certain stereotypes in our perceptions of beauty and quality, Fred Laforge draws, sculpts, and displays bodies considered abnormal in ИСЧЕЗНОВЕНИЕ. In a kind of escalation, the artist covers them with technical flaws such as pixels. Although rigorously designed in the spirit of classical works of art, these characters echo the limitations of digital technology (geometric form) as well as the exclusions of our aesthetic ideals (organic form). The artist seeks to nuance our social relationship with the body by undermining a certain uniformity of thought through the deployment of disfigured, impersonal, almost undefined beings. In Fred Laforge's drawings and sculptures, certain details of the human being invade the entire body or capture the attention. The intention is to lay the foundations for a collective broadening of our tastes and criteria through a confrontation with discomfort and norms.
