burning through the body, a series of digital etchings are presented alongside the animations from which they were lifted. The exhibition invites movement between the content in its echoing forms, considering questions of process, time, origin and trace. The etchings were made by working backward from video to still image. They are an attempt to reconstitute the ephemeral images within a frame-by-frame animation - giving it back its body by teasing out its constituent parts.  Time slows and our eyes are allowed to rest on individual frames again. The chorus of stop-motion vignettes are loosely based on passages from the long form poem Kok, written by Kristin Eiriksdottir.

Built up using paper cutouts, transparencies, and hand painted imagery, the four loops unfold simultaneously, allowing an experience of the content collectively and as individual elements without predetermined structure or emphasis.Poetry and animation blur lines between narrative and abstraction within their small worlds--breaking down and building up language and image into fragments and new variations. Their sonic and visual rhythms and repetitions create patterns of movement, build-ups of meaning, momentum and sometimes circularity or stuckness.
