À la fois exposition portative et archive vivante, Lemons Gazing at Mount Etna rassemble les investigations visuelles de Lonneke van der Palen. S’appuyant sur le vernaculaire du quotidien, la magnification des détails de Van der Palen transforme les objets trouvés, comme une chaise en plastique ou un sac à provisions égaré, en protagonistes de la culture matérielle. Inspirée par nos interactions avec les objets, la publication engage le lecteur de manière ludique dans un jeu d'association en expérimentant sur les notions de présentation et de séquence. Considérant des modes esthétiques alternatifs à travers les artefacts de la vie contemporaine, Lemons Gazing at Mount Etna est motivée par une façon de voir renouvelée.

Biographie
Depuis l’obtention de son diplôme à la Royal Academy of Art de La Haye en 2011, les œuvres de Lonneke van der Palen ont, entre autres, été exposées au Foam Museum, au Palais de Tokyo et à Unseen. Elle a également collaboré à plusieurs magazines internationaux tels que Numéro, Le Monde d’Hermès et Wallpaper* et avec des clients comme Chloé, Maison Margiela et Paco Rabanne. Elle vit actuellement à Amsterdam et son travail est représenté par la Galerie Fleur & Wouter.

At once a portable exhibition and a living archive, Lemons Gazing at Mount Etna brings together Lonneke van der Palen’s visual investigations. Premised upon the vernacular of the everyday, Van der Palen’s magnification of details transforms found objects—such as a plastic chair or stray shopping bag—into the protagonists of material culture. Equally inspired by human actions and our interactions with objects, the publication itself playfully engages the reader in a game of association by inviting intervention in its presentation and sequencing. Considering alternative aesthetic modes through the artefacts of contemporary life, Lemons Gazing at Mount Etna is motivated by a renewed way of seeing.

Biography
