Alina Frieske | How It Unfolds | 05.11-12.12.2026

La couche supérieure présente des pages extraites de sa publication Each and Every Part in Between.

From the uninterrupted stream of images circulating on social media, Alina Frieske extracts fragments that she brings together into an extensive assemblage. Transformed into a chromatic palette, they become the material for a meticulous process of visual recomposition, built up through individual touches in a gesture reminiscent of painting. Alternating between digital interventions and material processes, this approach subverts the mechanisms of identity construction inherent to the online environment and questions the ways in which the self is represented. At first glance, figuration prevails, giving way to a multitude of details upon further observation. In How It Unfolds, the installation created for Constellations, this interplay in perspective is highlighted through suspended images arranged in successive strata that invite closer scrutiny. The uppermost layer features pages taken from her publication Each and Every Part in Between. Beneath them, cropped prints present the original works at their actual scale. While Alina Frieske’s pictorial practice can be understood as a digital archaeology, her display case proposes a form of anastylosis: the reconstruction of a whole out of scattered remnants.

Alina Frieske is a German artist based in Berlin.
